#shareyourstory

Social media makes us believe that there is such a thing as a perfect life, which everyone is keen on comparing themselves to. An unbeatable competition. By sharing stories in which we talk about the less fun parts of life and setbacks, we show that life is not as fun or perfect as it may seem. By doing this we create a timeline containing stories which are not only about champaign and caviar. But especially we want to demonstrate that it’s alright when things aren’t all that great!

#nOTSOPERFECT

Honest about life!

On social media, Instagram in particularly, people rarely show more than the highlights of their lives. A new job, a handsome lover, buying a house, getting a degree, another fun party, staying up till the early hours and showing up to the gym a few hours later. This could make you feel like you haven’t accomplished all that much. You are feeling (very) depressed, meanwhile everyone else around you is incredibly successful. This is just plainly untrue, but in your mind it is. Especially when things are looking down, you increasingly start comparing your life to others. Only are we using the wrong criteria, this causes nothing but frustration and discontentment. Now, is the utmost time to quit it. Social media portrays pictures which are unrealistic. Here In The Same Boat, it is our goal is to change this!

#BEATMENTALPROBLEMS

Break the silence!

Nobody ever posts on Facebook that they feel mentally miserable, incredibly depressed, or like the world has just turned against them. The reason why is probably shame. Even though these things are not to feel ashamed about, everyone faces downs and challenges in their life. A life without those doesn’t exist! With #shareyourstory we want to bring forward the less fun aspects of life. We want to create recognizability. Knowing you are not alone in this helps! Therefore, it is our mission to lift the taboo on mental issues (on social media).

To make this happen, we need YOUR help! Would you like to share your story on psychological issues? Send it to us in min. 500 and max. 1500 words to  hallo@inhetzelfdeschuitje.com. We will only mention your first name, which can be a penname. Also, would we like to share your age when you are (were) experiencing your problems, only if you agree to this. Didn’t win a spelling bee? Don’t worry, we always double check the spelling and readability. Furthermore, it will be nothing but your words. We will place your story on our website and a short bit of on our social media page.
